50th Anniversary Gala Concert
If you have an Opera Choruses book and/or Handel: Coronation Anthems, please bring it/them to rehearsals.
Our programme includes pieces from concerts over the last 50 years and a “new” thanksgiving Te Deum by the French composer, Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
Tickets from members of the choir or at the door
Adults: £12 (£10 concessions)
Students and children: £5
Opera choruses are likely to be selected from the following:
|Composer||Chorus title||Book number||Page|
|Handel||Chorus of the enchanted islanders||8||130|
|Purcell||Dido’s Lament & Final chorus||15||189|
|Tchaikovsky||Chorus of peasant girls||19||214|
Please practice – lots! – between rehearsals. You may wish to listen to recordings – plenty of choice on YouTube for most of our programme – and MIDI files if you find them helpful.
Here are some links to MIDI files (version 1.1 ! ) :
www.cyberbass.com allows you to speed up and slow down the MIDI but doesn’t have much of this programme.
www.choralia.net is new to me and has an almost realistic sound and has lots of this programme, but I haven’t uploaded the links – please explore.
www.learnchoralmusic.co.uk has a very wide range of repertoire but a limited player, no parts emphasis, for instance.

|Handel||My heart is inditing
(from Coronation Anthems #3)
|Mozart||Spendente Te Deus||SATB||Does anyone have a link to MIDIs for this?
Might be under Thamos King of Egypt (!) If so please share.
